Character Name & Pronouns: Ena Shinonome (she/her)
Character Age: 17
Canon: Project Sekai: Colorful Stage (mobile game); sort as Project Sekai
Canon Point: After the event Reaching Out to a Tomorrow That Won't Come Unraveled (about two months ago). We'll take the movie as canon too but that... isn't likely to change a whole lot.
Content warnings: Ena's canon - and her unit specifically - come with a fairly serious stack of CWs that I will warn for here and may pop up elsewhere in the app without further notice. Nightcord at 25:00's main story and events include discussions of suicide and suicidal ideation, bullying, gender dysphoria, misgendering, involuntary outing, and emotional manipulation. Not all of this is always present, and not all of it applies to Ena herself, but she's tied too closely to the other members of her circle to be able to be completely separated from these topics at more than a surface level.
History: Ena on Sekaipedia, which should cover the important stuff.
Personality: Ena is someone that's been beaten down all her young adult life, originally by her father and then more recently by social media, resulting in self-confidence that she bolsters with a combination of the reinforcement of her friends, egosearching her socials and her circle's videos, and screaming at people when neither of those things are available. Charitably, she has a strong personality that needs conflict with others; uncharitably, she's a tsundere, as her friends accuse and she'll never admit. She's outwardly pleasant and approachable normally - and she's happy to help out with things if you ask her nicely - but once something sets her off or someone makes an unreasonable request, she gets combative and moody quickly. That escalates into argumentative, into loud, and from there into explosive. Once she runs out of steam, all her anger directs inward and turns into self-loathing and she starts to spiral; if she's alone, she starts at self-loathing and her rage simmers until she burns herself out or finds someone to vent on. If she's emotional or already angry, she may skip a couple of steps, or may just short out and end up quiet until something sets her off all over again.
That said, when she does find someone that can deal with her emotional extremes and appreciates her and her talents as they are, she latches on hard, and will work hard to keep those people happy (her attitude notwithstanding) and safe, because there usually aren't very many of them, and she can drive them away at any time, by accident or otherwise. It's happened before, and she has no doubts it'll happen again, so come hell or high water, it's not going to be her fault if she has anything to say about it. She'll go to bat for anyone at any time, even at her own expense, push herself to and beyond her limits, and throw away opportunities if it means she can put a smile on the face of someone that means something to her. Because isn't that what's important? Isn't that what art is for? Isn't that what Niigo is for? Isn't that what she's been working so hard for all this time?
That progression of her abilities and her desires is all (Ena tells herself) she has left. Despite the growing viewcounts on Niigo's videos, despite her friends praising her work and both her teacher and Ena herself seeing a difference in it, Ena doesn't feel like she's growing enough to be good. This is probably a function of Shinei trying to warn her away from a career as an artist without the drive to push through the hate both external and internal, but it's turned into a strong self-loathing and inability to trust in her own skills. So she seeks validation from elsewhere. A lot of that is egosearching in the comments of Niigo videos and her own Insta, but she needs to hear it from her friends too, and hard truths hit her even harder if she doesn't truly believe them of her own accord.
One thing she can feel herself getting better at is music itself, though. She's coming to enjoy singing for its own sake as time passes, and Niigo is more than just somewhere to improve her art - she's invested in it as a musician now. And when her art isn't cutting it, she's starting to see music as a form of expression too; she doesn't have K's knack for composing or Yuki's for lyrics, but she's slowly learning how to work around herself when normal words fail her.
Abilities: Ena's only supernatural ability won't be available to her here; normally she can play the song that originally linked her to Sekai, Composing the Future, on her phone to take her into the Empty Sekai (and stop it to leave). But with no access to electricity to charge her phone, she won't be able to get there. Even if she could, while the Expanse and Lake are present, neither her human friends nor the Virtual Singers are present, and they're most of the reason she'd want to go, so...
As for civilian talents, Ena's signature skill is her art. She primarily sketches, though she's also handy with a brush, and while she's great with her digital tablet, she's very used to graphite and colored pencils on paper, and carries a sketchbook. Through her time with Niigo, she's also gotten pretty good at singing and fairly acceptable at dancing, and enjoys the former openly and the latter grudgingly. A decent cook, and has Opinions about what's good in a dish. A fashionista; Mizuki's sewing expertise gives her a different perspective, but Ena knows enough to know what she likes and enjoys window shopping. Takes good selfies... generally. Uh, she has next to no physical stamina, that's probably important enough to include here despite not really being an ability.
Bloom Bond Flower: Ena's bond flower probably defaults to her image color; after two years of penlights in Sekai, it's the one she's most attuned to.
IC/OOC Permissions & Opt-Out Link: Ena's general permissions; if she gets into RD I'll make a specific one tailored for the game as I usually do and link that everywhere one's desired, but this covers all the CWs and permissions that apply to her RD canon point and I'll honor any opt-outs already posted here.
Sample: Ena on the TDM but I don't presently have enough tags here; here's another thread.

- Hydrangea - Niigo is more important to Ena than even her own brother sometimes, and she'll support all three of the others no matter what (even if they all support her in turn, whether she recognizes it or not), and will wait for an explanation if someone isn't ready to tell her what's eating them; indeed, she spends months trusting Mizuki to tell her her secret when she's ready, which turns out to be a disaster for different reasons she could never have expected. She also refuses to admit when she's wrong until challenged, doubles down half the time when someone does challenge her, and can get really snappy if pushed too far.
- Geranium - Ena's almost more worried about her circle than herself; she has a tendency to mother-hen and fret when something's on her mind, and very literally chases someone across Shibuya to keep her from doing something she'll regret. Niigo and its Sekai may exist because of Mafuyu's emotions, but Ena is its backbone and soul, and she'll do anything to keep it and its members safe and... well, sane may be out of reach, but she's trying, okay? It's certainly more than she can promise herself sometimes, especially for someone who has an event song literally talking about her world being painted grey and telling the world goodbye. Ena never knows if she's doing enough, if she is enough, and struggles with that every day. Her circle does their best to keep her going, but sometimes she just pushes herself too hard in her quest to suck less, and only time and positive reinforcement will help her learn better habits.
- Forget-me-not - Ena will be the first to tell you she's the most stubborn person she knows. That's not always a bad thing - if she believes in you, she's got your back without fail, and if she thinks something can be done, she's all in, come hell or high water (and usually whatever can go wrong, does). The one good thing she can say about herself is that she's persistent! Unfortunately, sometimes that isn't a good thing, because she just doesn't know when to leave well enough alone, and she drives herself into a corner she doesn't know how to get out of. This especially comes up when she lets her mouth write checks her brain or especially her hands can't cash, and try as she might, she can't get anything done, and she just keeps working, and failing, and nothing's going right, and why is she always like this, and when will it stop-
