Do you have any plans for this character in the game?tsundere recovery program Learning to be less abrasive and extend kindness first. And maybe, just maybe, to love herself without needing outside encouragement. Also, slightly Watsonian, but Ena's life would be markedly improved with magic to hold her phone in the air and hit the shutter button for her.
Character's Full Name: Ena Shinonome
Character's Pronouns: she/her
Character's Canon: Project Sekai: Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku (display as Project Sekai, the full title's just too long)
Character's Canon Point: Caught up to the English server as close as possible, which should put her after The Way I Played That Day; intending to match canon point to Owl's Kanade
Character's Age: 17
Did your character willingly come to Iyashikei? If yes, why? Yes. Partly out of honest curiosity, and partly out of a desire to better herself. And partly because she knows how isekai work, and someone summoning heroes from another world will probably have rewards lined up.
Will they need any special accommodations upon arrival? Nah. Just show her the "take picture" button on her Glimmer, she'll be fine.
Character's History:
Content warning: Nightcord at 25:00's main story and events include discussions of suicide and suicidial ideation, bullying, gender dysphoria, misgendering, and emotional manipulation. Not all of this is always present and not all of it applies to Ena herself, but she's tied too closely to the other members of her circle to be able to be completely separated from these topics. (If you're a player reading this and don't want to deal with some or all of these topics, she's got an opt-out over here; Niigo's stuff is heavy sometimes and I totally understand.) CWs will not be marked for the remainder of this section and personality! Please tread with caution.
I'm going to link the Project Sekai fandom wiki; it's a little light on starting background but covers everything through how Ena's relationships with the people around her change. If this isn't sufficient I've been working on a written background, but it's. Long. I'm a third of the way through the stuff I want to cover and I'm brushing up against the word limit.
Character's Personality: TL;DR, please give her self-introduction a watch.
Ena tries very hard to project the appearance of a cute, trendy, normal high school girl. She's a little self-absorbed, but for someone who spends a lot of time on the Insta, that's perhaps not unexpected. She's generally bright and peppy, and quick to chime in whether addressed or not, though she gets defensive fast if something sets her off. But a fair bit of that is an act. Ena is selfish, sharp-tongued, and quick to anger, or at least annoy. She has a hard time sticking to projects for very long if they don't really interest her, and especially if she runs into trouble working on something. By her own admission, she neither has talent nor is a "genius of hard work" type - she's just struggling to keep her head above water and do her best. And sometimes she doesn't manage to tread water: her mood can turn black quickly, leaving her to snap at even her friends, and at least once she's shared Mafuyu's desire to disappear into Sekai and never return - at least once, she's done it and been dragged back to the real world after being set straight. It takes her a while to come back to herself when her rage gets the better of her; she's strongly influenced by momentum, for better or worse.
But Ena's also stubborn. If something does feel important to her, she won't give up even if she has to stay up all night or work herself to the bone. "All night" isn't as severe as it might sound - she takes night classes, and then meets with Niigo a few hours after returning. But it's not strange for her to stay up until nearly sunrise to work on a big project, and then not wake until noon. That stubborn streak also manifests as a protective streak - if Ena wants to hold someone close to her, you won't be able to pry her off with a crowbar. Even if her friends can drive her mad sometimes, she's the first to offer an ear, and when someone's in a pinch, she'll move heaven and earth, even if it scares her. This does cause her to get in fights somewhat often, though - more than once she's shouted at Mizuki because she wants to help, wants to understand her, and Mizuki won't tell her aything, so she takes it out on her. Regrets it after, of course, and apologizes, but she still can't let it go. Similarly, she'll do anything for her brother when the chips are down, but she also can't help but argue with him when he's actually in front of her.
Ena's relationship with her art is long and fraught. She grew up wanting to be like her famous artist father, but she doesn't have the talent for that - he told her so, to her face, in middle school, and she's come to accept that herself. She went to an extracurricular art school until around that time as well; she dropped out of it when the instructor told her her work was merely okay, and after several days of work to try and improve her piece was told she was trying too hard. Ena fell into depression after that and gave up art almost entirely. The problem here is that Shinei doesn't believe it either - he's trying to convince her to quit because he hates what being an artist has done to his life and doesn't want that for her. But he hasn't told her that - only Akito. So while Shinei tries to stop Ena from in front and Akito tries to mitigate him from beside her, her circle tries to support her from behind. Likes on Ena's selfies and Niigo's videos are the only thing that keep her going some days, along with the simple fact that Kanade chose her. She is Nightcord at 25:00's illustrator, and nobody is going to take that away from her. She's getting better at accepting herself as an artist; she's helped teach Emu and Honami to draw, and she's even returned to her art classes, and while the teacher is just as harsh as he always was, she's learning to take his advice in stride. Slowly, Ena is gaining confidence in her work - in herself - and feels that drive to draw for her own sake, and not anyone else's.
Ena is a homebody; she prefers to stay in and work than to go out and do stuff, other than for her socials, and on a badbrain day she can just curl up on her bed with a plushie and get dozens of likes in seconds for an immediate hit. When she's working on a project she generally needs to be actively dragged, which is less of a problem lately since Sekai can be accessed from anywhere (meaning she doesn't actually need to leave her room) and the Virtual Singers can pop out of her phone if something's going catastrophically wrong and she needs to get moving. That said, she's not entirely reclusive, either. She can be encouraged to go out and support her friends (or her brother), watching More More Jump's latest show or going down to Weekend Garage to see Bad Dogs perform, or to go out on day trips, although she gets tired somewhat fast... and is easily annoyed when she gets tired. She can collaborate with others, even if she struggles to do it peacefully sometimes; that said, it also leads to her taking on projects sometimes, like when she had to teach someone how to understand their own art. And she'll do the reverse, too - if someone needs a hand, especially one of her friends, she's got their back anytime. She's even invited Mafuyu to stay the night and covered for her with the girl's mother, using her father to make it legitimate and hating every second. And when someone is in trouble and she can't do anything about it, she freaks out a little, either rushing off to try and find something she can do, or asking everyone she can get her hands on to help. It's fine, she's trying her best. Even if her best is a little off-kilter sometimes.
Character Abilities: No powers, per se. Ena's only supernatural ability is being connected to the Empty Sekai through her bond with Mafuyu as part of their circle; with access to her smartphone, she can start the song "Composing the Future" and it'll cause her to disappear from the real world and appear in Sekai. Given the original Untitled track appeared in their Nightcord group somewhat mysteriously in the first place, though, it might appear on her Glimmer someday (read: after necessary regains). So far as we've seen, no character can go to anyone else's Sekai but their own, a character can't bring outsiders into her Sekai, and characters (and Virtual Singers) can't move between each other's Sekai. Because all the Virtual Singers are appable in their own right, there won't be anyone else in the Empty Sekai - just a sapling, a lake, a door, and a few knick-knacks formed by the innate magic(?) of the place. Since time is stopped in Ena's home reality while she's here, she can't trade items with anyone not already in Iyashikei via Sekai. (We asked about this over here.)
Beyond that, just her normal civilian abilities. She's a talented artist, though she's been heavily convinced she's pretty mid, and she's getting better at singing with every passing day. Her academic abilities are... fine. Adept at taking selfies and managing her social media accounts, and can at least passably use technology.
Player Opt-out/Opt-in Permissions post: Over here; Ena doesn't have powers that need permissions and I don't really intend her to gain any, but does have heavy stuff in her backstory that probably merits an opt-out
